A Sunset Beach High
Volunteers unwittingly break the law!
A volunteer program to plant sea oats on the newly refurbished Sunset Beach has turned into a nightmare. Several local residents who pride themselves on volunteering for worth- while projects on Treasure Island are now under investigation by the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA).T I Beach Bums has learned that a shipment of sea oats meant for Treasure Island and to be used as a community project for beach
protection was confused with a shipment to be used during a sting operation being run by the Department of Drug Enforcement. A semi truck loaded with the sea oat saplings was mistakenly commandeered and sent to Miami by drug enforcement agents while a semi truck loaded with marijuana seedlings was routed to Sunset Beach.
Volunteers arriving early in the morning to plant what they believed were sea oat seedlings mistakenly planted the marijuana seedlings instead. Sunset Beach now has the largest open-air marijuana plantation in the northern hemisphere.
While the Sunset Beach volunteers eagerly planted
what they thought were sea oats, Drug Agents in
Miami made the horrifying discovery that they were
trying to sell a truckload of sea oats to a major
underworld drug dealer. By the time DEA agents
realized the mistake, Sunset Beach was covered
with young Columbian Gold marijuana plants.
Local real estate agents were quick to seize on the opportunity as property values on Sunset Beach soared. Local hotels and motels have suddenly been inundated with reservations by students from every major university in the country. A former president is expected to visit Sunset Beach in the near future but claims he will not inhale.
State officials are reading an extermination project to kill the marijuana plants while many a Sunset resident is toiling to harvest what they can before agents kill the newly planted crop. T I Beach Bums attempted to contact the current City Commissioner from Sunset Beach but we were unable to locate him. We were told by a reliable source that the current Commissioner from Sunset Beach was seen walking up and down the beach singing "You say yea and I say yes. I say no and you say nay." with the normal blank expression on his face.
