Let em Drum
T I Beach Bums believes that the Sunday Night Treasure Island Drum Circle is a viable and beneficial beach activity. The city Manager and City Commission are devising ways to eliminate this valuable resource. We urge our readers to support the Drum Circle and have created a list of facts validating our stand:
Several hundred drunken and doped up drummers pose less of a threat to our community than a 40 year old tourist speeding down the beach trail at 6 mph on a Segway.
Migrating sea turtles can hide their nests under the piles of empty beer bottles Circle participants leave laying on the beach.
Drum Circle participants keep our local drug dealers employed helping to build a healthy Treasure Island economy.
Beach protecting sea oats benefit from being the target of public urination.
Female Drum Circle participants dancing on the beach topless give Treasure Island a more progressive appearance to our foreign visitors.
Drum Circle participants who pass out on the beach from drug and liquor over indulgence support Commissioner Kraus’ theory that Treasure Island Beach is for relaxing.
The incessant drumming drives tourists off the beach negating any possible effects of red tide on our tourism industry.
The drum circle keeps dopers and drunks off our streets for several hours every Sunday night.
Passer bys who are engulfed in the strong odor of marijuana emanating from the drum circle are overcome with hunger and frequent local restaurants.
The mind numbing pounding makes it impossible to watch television rebroadcasts of commission meetings.
Support the Drum Circle. Give a loser a place to go on Sunday night.
